Karaites and Samaritans use different versions of the Jewish calendar, which are often out of sync with the modern Jewish calendar by one or two days.[citation needed]In 2009, for example, Nisan 15 on the Jewish calendar used by Rabbinic Judaism corresponds to April 9.
On the calendars used by Karaites and Samaritans, Abib orAviv 15 (as opposed to 'Nisan') corresponds to April 11 in 2009.
The Karaite and Samaritan Passovers are each one day long, followed by the six day Festival of Unleavened Bread – for a total of seven days.

[ Beware of the Leaven of the Pharisees ]
In the meantime, when so many thousands of the people had gathered together that they were trampling one another,
he began to say to his disciples first,
“Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2 Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.
3 Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light,
and

Acknowledge Christ Before Men
8 “And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God,
9 but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.
10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven,
but
the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
11 And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities,
do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself
or
what you should say,

The Parable of the Rich Fool
13 Someone in the crowd said to him,
“Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
14 But he said to him,
“Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator over you?”
15 And he said to them,
“Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness,
for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
16 And he told them a parable,
saying,
“The land of a rich man produced plentifully,
17 and he thought to himself,
‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’
18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones,
and
there I will store all my grain and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul,
“Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’
20 But God said to him, ‘Fool!
This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared,
whose will they be?’
21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

Do Not Be Anxious
22 And he said to his disciples,
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life,
what you will eat,
nor about your body, what you will put on.
23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn,
and yet God feeds them.
Of how much more value are you than the birds!
25 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
26 If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that,
why are you anxious about the rest?
27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,
yet I tell you,
even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today,
and tomorrow is thrown into the oven,
how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!
29 And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried.
30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things,
and your Father knows that you need them.
31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.
32 “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33 Sell your possessions, and give to the needy.
Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail,
where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

You Must Be Ready
35 “Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning,
36 and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast,
so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks.
37 Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes.
Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table,
and
he will come and serve them.
38 If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake,
blessed are those servants!
39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into.
40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
41 Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all?”
42 And the Lord said,
“Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household,
to give them their portion of food at the proper time?
43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.
44 Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.
45 But if that servant says to himself,
‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants,
and to eat and drink and get drunk,
46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him
and
at an hour he does not know,
and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful.
47 And that servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating.
48 But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating,
will receive a light beating.
Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required,
and
from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.

three against two and two against three.
53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter
and
daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and
daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

Interpreting the Time
54 He also said to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once,
‘A shower is coming.’ And so it happens.
55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’
and it happens.
56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky,
but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?

Settle with Your Accuser
57 “And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?
58 As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him
on the way, lest he drag you to the judge,
and
the judge hand you over to the officer,
and
the officer put you in prison.
59 I tell you,
you will never get out until you have paid the very last penny.”

Sexual Immorality Defiles the Whole Church
5 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you,
and
of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father's wife.
2 And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn?
Let him who has done this be removed from among you.
3 For though absent in body,
I am present in spirit; and as if present,
I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing.
4 When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus
and
my spirit is present,
with the power of our Lord Jesus,
5 you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh,
so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.
6 Your boasting is not good.

For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
8 Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil,
but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people--
10 not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers,
or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.
11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother
if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler--not even to eat with such a one.
12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders?
Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge?
13 God judges those outside.
“Purge the evil person from among you.”

Christ Has Set Us Free
5 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore,
and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
2 Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you.
3 I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law.
4 You are severed from Christ,
you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.
5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.
6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything,
but only faith working through love.
7 You were running well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?
8 This persuasion is not from him who calls you.

9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump.
_______________________
10 I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view, and the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is.
11 But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted?
In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.
12 I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves!
13 For you were called to freedom, brothers.
Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed
by one another.
___________________________
Keep In Step With the Spirit
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these.
I warn you,
as I warned you before,
that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another,
envying one another.

[ Punishment Coming for Israel and Judah ]
Hear this, O priests! Pay attention, O house of Israel! Give ear, O house of the king!
For the judgment is for you;
for you have been a snare at Mizpah
and
a net spread upon Tabor.
|
And the revolters have gone deep into slaughter,
but I will discipline all of them.
3 I know Ephraim,
and Israel is not hidden from me;
for now, O Ephraim, you have played the whore;
Israel is defiled.
4 Their deeds do not permit them
to return to their God.
For the spirit of whoredom is within them,
and they know not the Lord.
5 The pride of Israel testifies to his face;
Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in his guilt;
Judah also shall stumble with them.
6 With their flocks and herds they shall go
to seek the Lord,
but they will not find him;
he has withdrawn from them.
7 They have dealt faithlessly with the Lord;
for they have borne alien children.
Now the new moon shall devour them with their fields.
8 Blow the horn in Gibeah,
the trumpet in Ramah.
Sound the alarm at Beth-aven;
we follow you, O Benjamin!
9 Ephraim shall become a desolation
in the day of punishment;
among the tribes of Israel
I make known what is sure.
10 The princes of Judah have become
like those who move the landmark;
upon them I will pour out
my wrath like water.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment,
because he was determined to go after filth.
12 But I am like a moth to Ephraim,
and like dry rot to the house of Judah.
13 When Ephraim saw his sickness,
and Judah his wound,
then Ephraim went to Assyria,
and sent to the great king.
But he is not able to cure you
or heal your wound.
14 For I will be like a lion to Ephraim,
and like a young lion to the house of Judah.
I, even I, will tear and go away;
I will carry off, and no one shall rescue.
15 I will return again to my place,
until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face,
and in their distress earnestly seek me.

Genesis 9
English Standard Version (ESV)
9 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them,
“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
2 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth
and
upon every bird of the heavens, upon everything that creeps on the ground
and
all the fish of the sea.
Into your hand they are delivered.
3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you.
And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything.
4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life,
that is, its blood.
5 And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it
and
from man.
From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.
6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed,
for God made man in his own image.

[ Punishment Coming for Israel and Judah ]
Hear this, O priests! Pay attention, O house of Israel! Give ear, O house of the king!
For the judgment is for you;
for you have been a snare at Mizpah
and
a net spread upon Tabor.
|
And the revolters have gone deep into slaughter,
but I will discipline all of them.
3 I know Ephraim,
and Israel is not hidden from me;
for now, O Ephraim, you have played the whore;
Israel is defiled.
4 Their deeds do not permit them
to return to their God.
For the spirit of whoredom is within them,
and they know not the Lord.
5 The pride of Israel testifies to his face;
Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in his guilt;
Judah also shall stumble with them.
6 With their flocks and herds they shall go
to seek the Lord,
but they will not find him;
he has withdrawn from them.
7 They have dealt faithlessly with the Lord;
for they have borne alien children.
Now the new moon shall devour them with their fields.
8 Blow the horn in Gibeah,
the trumpet in Ramah.
Sound the alarm at Beth-aven;
we follow you, O Benjamin!
9 Ephraim shall become a desolation
in the day of punishment;
among the tribes of Israel
I make known what is sure.
10 The princes of Judah have become
like those who move the landmark;
upon them I will pour out
my wrath like water.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment,
because he was determined to go after filth.
12 But I am like a moth to Ephraim,
and like dry rot to the house of Judah.
13 When Ephraim saw his sickness,
and Judah his wound,
then Ephraim went to Assyria,
and sent to the great king.
But he is not able to cure you
or heal your wound.
14 For I will be like a lion to Ephraim,
and like a young lion to the house of Judah.
I, even I, will tear and go away;
