So when he restored the money to his mother,
his mother took 200 pieces of silver and gave it to the silversmith,
who made it into a carved image and a metal image.
And
it was in the house of Micah.

Micah and the Levite
And the man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and household gods,
and
ordained one of his sons, who became his priest.

Micah and the Levite
And the man departed from the town of Bethlehem in Judah
to sojourn where he could find a place.
And as he journeyed, he came to the hill country of Ephraim to the house of Micah.

And Micah said to him,
“Stay with me, and be to me a father and a priest,

And
the Levite went in.

The Danites Take the Levite and the Idol
So the people of Dan sent five able men from the whole number of their tribe,
from
Zorah and from Eshtaol,
to spy out the land and to explore it.
And
they said to them.
Go and explore the land,
And they came to the hill country of Ephraim,
to the house of Micah, and lodged there.

And he said to them,
“This is how Micah dealt with me: he has hired me,
and
I have become his priest.”
_________________________
Danites Take the Levite and the Idol
When they had gone a distance from the home of Micah,
the men who were in the houses near Micah's house were called out,
and
they overtook the people of Dan.
___________________________
Danites Take the Levite and the Idol
But the people of Dan took what Micah had made,
and
the priest who belonged to him,
and
they came to Laish,
to a people quite and unsuspecting, and struck them with the edge of the sword
and
they burned the city with fire.

Danites Take the Levite and the Idol
And the people of Dan set up the carved image for themselves,
and Jonathan the son of Gershom, son of Moses,
and
his sons were priests to the tribe of the Danites
until the day of the captivity of the land.

Danites Take the Levite and the Idol
So they set up Micah's carved image that he made,
as long as the house of God was at Shiloh.

In the Roman period, the city itself was known as Marida (Merida),[7] supposedly from a Syriac-Assyrian name translating to "fortress".[8][9] The bishopric of the Assyrian Church of the East that was centred on the town when it was part of the Roman province of Osrhoene (a former Neo Assyrian kingdom) became part of the Catholic Church in the late 17th century AD, and is still included in the Catholic Church's list of titular sees under the ancient name of the town.[10] It was a suffragan see of Edessa, the province's metropolitan see.
In 1517, Mardin was annexed by the Ottomans under Selim the Grim. During this time, Mardin was administered by a governor directly appointed under the Ottoman Sultan's authority. In 1923, with the founding of the Republic of Turkey, Mardin was made the administrative capital of a province named after it.
During World War I Mardin, among other regions close by was one of the sites affected by the Assyrian Genocide and Armenian Genocide.
During the late Permian ~250 mya the Afro-Arabian plate started opening up. The East African continental rift initiation is believed to have started around 27-31 million years ago with the beginning of the basaltic volcanism of the Afar Plume. This rift system would cause a contractional tectonic process to occur in which the Arabian Plate was pushed in a north-easterly direction towards theEurasian plate. The divergence in the East African Rift would eventually cause the closure of the Tethys Ocean as the Arabian Plate made its first inception of collision with Eurasia between 25-23 million years ago, and complete closure around 10 mya and creation of the Mardin High.
The Permian is a geologic period and system which extends from 298.9 ± 0.15 to 252.17 ± 0.06 million years ago.[5] It is the last period of the Paleozoic Era, following the Carboniferous Period and preceding the Triassic Period of theMesozoic Era. The concept of the Permian was introduced in 1841 by geologist Sir Roderick Murchison, who named it after the ancient kingdom of Permia.

The Principality of Great Perm (Russian: Великопермское княжество, Velikopermskoye knyazhestvo; Komi-Permyak: Ыджыт Перем öксуму, Чердін öксуму) emerged as a separate Komi-Permyak feudal entity in the 14th-15th centuries owing to the easing of the Novgorod Republic. The principality retained a degree of autonomy under the Muscovite rule, but was eventually absorbed into it in 1505.
The principality was located in the Upper Kama area and maintained close connections with nearby Perm ofVychegda (alternatively known as Perm the Minor). Both Perm states had paid tribute to the Novgorod Republicsince the 9th or 10th centuries. Perm of Vychegda was Christianised by Stephen of Perm in the fourteenth century and subsequently subdued by Muscovy. In 1451 a House of Princes of Perm gained control of both territories as vassals of Moscow, with the titles of princes Vymsky, and princes Velikopermsky. In fact even though having been Christianised soon after Perm of Vychegda, Great Perm enjoyed greater independence, positioned between three powers: Moscow, the Novgorod, and Kazan. Finally in 1472 an army of vassals of Moscow with the princes Vymsky among them conquered Great Perm and captured their brother Prince Mikhail Velikopermsky. Nevertheless, the latter soon came back again from Moscow as governor and ruled his domain for life. His son Matthew Velikopermsky was finally deposed by the Grand Prince of Moscow in 1505.[6]
Up to the early 18th century, the name Great Perm was officially used of the Upper Kama area, a southern part of which was governed by the Stroganov family.
The name was borrowed (as the 'Permian' period) by the nineteenth century geologist Sir Roderick Murchison to refer to rocks of a certain age, following extensive studies which he conducted in the region.

Mardin comes from the Syriac word (ܡܪܕܐ) and means "fortresses".[3][4]
The first known civilization were the Subarian-Hurrians who were then succeeded in 3000BCE by the Hurrians. The Elamites gained control around 2230 BCE. and were followed by the Babylonians, Hittites, Assyrians, Romans and Byzantines.[5]
The local Assyrians/Syriacs, while very reduced due to the massacres of the Assyrian Genocide and conflicts between the Kurds and Turks, hold on to two of the oldest monasteries in the world, Dayro d-Mor Hananyo(Turkish Deyrülzafaran, English Saffron Monastery) and Deyrulumur Monastery. The Christian community is concentrated on the Tur Abdin plateau and in the town of Midyat, with a smaller community (approximately 100) in the provincial capital.
Politically, the area in the early 2000s has witnessed competition between the governing Justice and Development Party and the mainly Kurdish-based Democratic People's Party, later revamped as Peace and Democracy Party.
Unemployment and poverty are serious problems, and there has been considerable out migration to western and southern Turkey, although the reduction in political violence (mainly related to the PKK-led insurgency), coupled with infrastructure improvements such as a new civil airport at the provincial capital and improvements to the Ankara-Baghdad highway are helping ameliorate matters.

Main articles: Kurdish rebellions in Turkey, Kurds in Turkey and History of the Kurdistan Workers Party
Kurdish rebellions against the Ottoman Empire have been reported for over two centuries, but the modern conflict dates back to the Turkish War of Independence, which established a Turkish nationalist state which has repressed the human rights of Kurdish people in Turkey. Major historical events include the Koçgiri Rebellion(1920), Sheikh Said rebellion (1925), Ararat rebellion (1930), and the Dersim Rebellion (1938).
The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) was founded in 1974 by Abdullah Öcalan. Initially a Marxist-Leninist organization, it abandoned orthodox communism and adopted a program of greater political rights and cultural autonomy for Kurds. Between 1978 and 1980, the PKK engaged in limited urban warfare with the Turkish state to these aims. The organization restructured itself and moved the organization structure to Syria between 1980 and 1984, just after the 1980 Turkish coup d'état.

Bulgar (also spelled Bolğar, Bulghar) is an extinct language which was spoken by the Bulgars.
The name is derived from the Bulgars, a tribal association which established the Bulgar khanate, known as Old Great Bulgaria in the mid-7th century, giving rise to the Danubian Bulgaria by the 680s.[2][3][4] While the language was extinct in Danubian Bulgaria (in favour of the Slavic Bulgarian language), it persisted in Volga Bulgaria, eventually giving rise to the modern Chuvash language.[5][6][7]
The Kazan Kremlin (Russian: Казанский Кремль; Tatar Cyrillic: Казан кирмәне, Latin: Qazan kirmäne) is the chief historic citadel of Tatarstan, situated in the city of Kazan. It was built at the behest of Ivan the Terrible on the ruins of the former castle of Kazan khans. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000.
The Spasskaya Tower is named after the Spassky Monastery, which used to be located nearby.
Among the monastery's buildings were the Church of St. Nicholas (1560s, four piers) and the Cathedral of the Saviour's Transfiguration (1590s, six piers). They were destroyed by the Communists during Joseph Stalin's rule.

In the course of the decline of the Great Moravian realm during the Hungarian invasions of Europe in the 9th an 10th-century,
the Czech Přemyslid dynasty established the Duchy of Bohemia.
Backed by the East Frankish kings, they prevailed against the reluctant Bohemian nobility and extended their rule eastwards over the adjacent Moravian lands.
